Utility services in islands previously handled by Fenaka Corporation have now all been transferred under STELCO.
Dissolving Fenaka Corporation, and transferring all its electricity and sewerage services under STELCO is a decision previously announced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on September 7.
STELCO has now completed take over of services on all islands, with L. Fonadhoo having been the final island to see transfer of service.

A special ceremony to mark this was held in Fonadhoo yesterday. At the ceremony, STELCO Managing Director Dr. Ali Azwar officially hoisted the national flat, while STELCO South Regional Department's General Manager Ahmed Sharneez hoisted the company flag.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Azwar stressed that the public have high expectations now that STELCO are responsible for providing utility services in the islands.
Azwar thanked the President and praised his policy decision as forward thinking and beneficial.
He went on to assert that STELCO and its teams would work tirelessly to meet the expectations of the public and deliver reliable and efficient services.

Previously, STELCO's services were only provided in the Male' area, Kaafu atoll, Alif Alif atoll, Alif Dhaalu atoll and Vaavu atoll. Before the government decided to dissolve Fenaka, STELCO also began providing services in Baa atoll, Lhaviyani atoll and Meemu atoll.
Now, utility services in the remaining 127 islands across several atolls have now been officially transferred under STELCO.

STELCO announced that to ensure efficient running of their branches in these islands, changes have been brought to the organizational structure of the branches, and appropriate structures have now been implemented to ensure optimum functioning of power houses.
Four dedicated teams from STELCO worked across the atolls to implement the transfer of services.
