Former MNDF First Lieutenant and former deputy minister of this administration, Zihan Hassan, who was arrested for calling to burn down the President's Office, the People's Majlis building, and the Supreme Court, has had his remand extended by an additional 14 days.

Questioning why fire has not been set to the buildings housing the offices of the three branches of the state, his post encouraged that action to be taken. Therefore, he was arrested and remanded for 15 days on the 21st of last month.

Police stated that upon producing him before the Fuvahmulah Magistrate Court today to determine a decision on his remand period, an additional 14 days were granted for his remand.

Zihan's status read, "[It would be] fun if set on fire." However, an hour after posting that status, he deleted the post.

Having studied at the US Naval Academy and worked as an MNDF naval architect, Zihan was dismissed from the institution towards the end of the previous administration. At the time, those close to him alleged that his dismissal from the military was due to his criticism of the government.

Following that, this administration appointed him as a Deputy Minister at the Transport Ministry. However, after being dismissed from the post later on, he continued to criticize the government on social media.
