Maldive Gas has temporarily reduced the amount of cooking gas supplied in cylinders due to rising prices in the international market.
The company said the temporary changes to cylinder filling quantities would take effect from Saturday.
Under the revised arrangement, the filling quantities will be reduced as follows:
- 10kg cylinder: 7kg of gas
- 22kg cylinder: 14kg of gas
- 45kg cylinder: 31kg of gas
Maldive Gas said the changes would not result in an increase in gas prices, with customers continuing to be charged according to the actual weight of gas supplied.
The company said it was also working to expand the Maldives' gas storage capacity, with the project expected to provide storage for up to three months' supply at a time.
Maldive Gas said the project would offer a long-term solution to the country's gas supply challenges.
