Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has opened nominations for a director position representing public shareholders on its board.

In an announcement yesterday, MTCC said applications were open for one of the two seats for directors elected by ordinary shareholders.

The deadline for applications is November 24.

Under Article 57 of MTCC's Articles of Association, the board consists of seven directors, five representing the government and two elected by public shareholders.

The two most recent directors representing public shareholders on the board were Nasrath Mohamed and Mohamed Imran Adnan.

MTCC has encouraged as many women as possible to apply for the position, in line with Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA) regulations.

Applicants must be shareholders of the company or nominees of a company whose shareholders are eligible under the relevant requirements. They must also be familiar with MTCC's business and operations and have the ability to analyze financial reports.

Candidates must not have been declared bankrupt by a court or have outstanding debts that remain unpaid in violation of a court judgment in the Maldives or elsewhere.

Applicants must also not be involved in businesses that conflict with MTCC's interests and must meet the requirements set by the CMDA.

MTCC said qualified applicants must submit their information to the board. Details of the nominees will subsequently be made public ahead of the Annual General Meeting.

The directors will be elected at the company's 2025 Annual General Meeting, MTCC said.
