Lawyer and former President Mohamed Nasheed’s brother Nazim Sattar was arrested Saturday night.
At 11p.m. Saturday, Nazim announced that he was being arrested via Twitter.
Nazim was near the Criminal Court with several opposition supporters as the individuals who were arrested under the state of emergency were being summoned to the court for remand hearings.
It is not clear why the lawyer was arrested; the police have not commented on the arrest yet.
Over a 100 people have been arrested since the state of emergency was declared February 5, including former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom, Chief Justice Abdullah Saeed, and several other high-profile politicians, as well as some select police officers.
While the prominent politicians were arrested charged with conspiring to overthrow the government, several protestors who were taken in to custody amidst protests were accused of obstructing the duty of law enforcement officers.
