A baby girl born at just 25 weeks of pregnancy has been discharged from Hulhumale' Hospital after spending three months receiving treatment in its neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
The baby was discharged on Tuesday at a special ceremony at the hospital, marking a significant milestone for her family and the medical team who cared for her.

Her mother, Fathimath Nizna, was preparing to welcome her first child when a health complication required her to undergo an emergency surgical delivery at 25 weeks of pregnancy.
The premature birth marked the beginning of a difficult three-month journey for the family as their daughter remained in the NICU.
Despite the uncertainty, Nizna and her husband held on to hope while their baby received treatment.
Hulhumale' Hospital celebrated the discharge in a social media post, describing the recovery of a baby born at 25 weeks as the result of hope, compassion and teamwork.
“Every baby’s life is precious. And every breakthrough is an achievement to be celebrated,” the hospital said.
Nizna expressed gratitude to the NICU team for their patience, compassion and care throughout the baby’s treatment.
“The memories of all the members of that team will always remain in our hearts,” she said.
The baby’s discharge marks a milestone for the family and recognises the work of the healthcare professionals involved in her care.
