The Parliament sitting to propose the estimated state budget for 2027 has been scheduled for tomorrow.

Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla announced the scheduled sitting at the end of today's sitting. He stated that the sitting to propose the budget will begin tomorrow at 1:30 pm.

The exact figure the government will propose for the 2027 state budget is not known as of yet.

The Parliament approved MVR 64.2 billion on 30th October for the estimated 2026 state budget, which is the highest in Maldives to date. This is around an MVR 8 billion increase from the approved budget for 2025.

It is estimated that the state will receive a revenue of MVR 40.2 billion this year. Then-Minister of Finance Moosa Zameer stated that the biggest difference to the 2026 revenue was the exclusion of free aid before submitting the budget.

The budget deficit for 2027 is MVR 8.8 billion, which is the lowest deficit relative to recent history.

MVR 31.3 billion in tax was estimated for this year, with non-taxable income estimated at MVR 8.7 billion.
