The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) stated they will begin going to and conducting inspections of households that prepare food on a commercial basis.
MFDA said surveillance inspections on food manufacturers and sellers that have registered with the authority will be conducted to see how they run their business.
The inspections are being done to check whether the proper guidelines are being followed when preparing food.
MFDA went on to say that they will conduct inspections from 5th November to 20th November. The authority also said that their inspectors will visit households that prepare food within that time frame.
Additional information is available via contacting MFDA's hotline.
While the MFDA has decided to check how food is being prepared, there has always been public concern over the lack of cleanliness at places where food is made and taken to shops to sell.
