A teacher from an island under south central police has been arrested for sexually assaulting a student.

A police media official stated today they received a report on 17th October that a 12 year old girl had been sexually assaulted.

A court order issued an arrest warrant on the 52 year old expatriate man, and was arrested on Friday. 

Once he was produced to court, he was remanded for 30 days so that the case can be investigated.

A resident of the island stated the teacher has been sexually abusing students for years now, and that he has been arrested over a major case this time.
