Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed announced last night that there will be 4,400 products by local artists and innovators exhibited at the Maldives Expo 2026.
A ceremony was held last night to announce the results of the Maldives Expo 2026. Speaking at the event, Minister Saeed said that this year's edition of the expo is larger and better than ever held previously.
The Maldives Expo 2026 opens its doors to the public today. Saeed revealed that 4,400 authentic local products will be exhibited at the expo, compared to just 2,467 products by 240 exhibitors last year.
The minister described this as an immense step forward.
"I would also like to emphasize that all atolls of Maldives are participating in exhibiting these products. While 240 exhibitors showcased 2,467 products last year, this has increased to 600 exhibitors today," the minister said.
While previous editions of the Maldives Expo featured five distinct districts, this year two more districts have been added. These are the Visitor Economy district and International District.
Saeed said that he Visitor Economy district opens doors for major tourist sector investments, as well as smaller ones. Meanwhile, he added, the International District brings extraordinary global innovations, and offers visitors the chance to meet the exhibitors and gain a deeper understanding.
"You will see phenomenal technological feats from international exhibitors at this year's expo. Innovative skills and tools which can add value to Maldives' industries will be seen there. So we are connecting the Maldives to them as well," Saeed said.
Saeed stated that the government is working towards facilitating bringing productive benefits which will emerge by 2024 internationally to the Maldives. The government will remain committed to this so as to enhance Maldivian's future and self sufficiency.
