Civil Court Judge Abdulla Ihusan has resigned after the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) decided to submit to Parliament to remove him from office.

JSC suspended Ihusan for 60 days from 19 August over allegations of sexual harassment.

The commission recently decided to submit the case to Parliament for his removal, following an investigation into a sexual harassment complaint filed against him.

In an earlier statement, the JSC said the suspension was based on the nature of the case under investigation and information received by the commission.

The JSC said it had obtained Ihusan’s statement and sought information from other individuals as part of its investigation.

The commission said the suspension was imposed to maintain public confidence in the judiciary, taking into account the information received and the circumstances of the case.
