First Lady Sajidha Mohamed stated that the fundamental core of a robust healthcare system is the public confidence and trust placed in safe, quality medicine.
The First Lady today visited the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) in Islamabad, addressing and speaking to the senior officials and staff of the authority.
Speaking at this event held on the sidelines of President Muizzu's official visit to Pakistan, Sajidha stated that facilitating continuous access to safe and quality medicine is one of the highest national priorities for an island nation with dispersed islands like the Maldives.
First Lady Sajidha also noted that this trust can be maintained through sound scientific standards, strong regulatory bodies, and constructive international cooperation.
Having spent many years serving in the health sector, First Lady Sajidha expressed gratitude for Pakistan's assistance to the Maldivian health sector, particularly for Pakistani health experts working in the Maldives and the cooperation provided in training Maldivian doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals.
She also stated that the Memorandum of Understanding on Health Cooperation signed between the two countries today is a very important step forward.
The First Lady stated that under this framework, it will pave the way for exchanging technical information, capacity building, and sharing best regulatory practices. She also said that the true value of this relationship will be realized through the positive changes brought to citizens' lives within a strong healthcare system.
Prior to visiting DRAP, First Lady Sajidha visited the National Institute of Health in Islamabad and toured the facility.
