Asphalting has begun on the third segment of the ongoing repair section of Malé's Ameenee Magu.

MTCC stated that asphalting work on the third segment of Ameenee Magu, extending from Izzuddeen Magu up to Koarukendi Hingun, began today. That work will be completed by the end of today.

MTCC stated that once asphalting is completed, the next work to proceed will be road marking.

The company also stated that with the development of Malé's streets, major relief will be received for traveling within Malé.

MTCC was tasked last June with completely removing the asphalt layer and rebuilding certain areas of Ameenee Magu that had been paved with asphalt where the asphalt layer had risen and major potholes had formed.

Following repairs, the section extending from the Voice of Maldives building up to Dharumavantha Hospital has now been opened.

The former administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih began the project to modernize Ameenee Magu by contracting RDC in July 2022. That project, which was carried out in phases, had its final remaining incomplete section built and opened in 2024 by the time that administration concluded.

The work to rebuild the road to modern standards began after a long period during which the asphalt layer had risen in various sections, creating hazards for motorists.
