The Finance Ministry has purchased a plot of land from Hulhumale' for MVR 94.5 million. 

The ministry has purchased a 25,011 sqft plot of land in Hulhumale' Phase 1. 

The land was bought from Housing Development Corporation, and the payment has now been paid in full. 

The land sale was registered at the Civil Court. The Civil Court has ruled this a legitimate transaction and transferred ownership from the HDC to the Finance Ministry. 

It is unclear for what purpose the Finance Ministry has purchased this land. There has, however, been talk previously that new offices for the ministry are to be built in Hulhumale'. 

This project was handed over to Malaysia's WZR Properties during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen. Although the plans were initially to construct a 25 storey office tower in Male', it was later shifted to Hulhumale'. However, the entire project was stalled due to difficulties in obtaining financing.
