Two Persons with Disability (PWD) Ambassadors have been appointed today at Housing Development Corporation (HDC) as a means of including the opinions of and holding discussions with everyone in the community.

According to a statement from the HDC, they have officially appointed Aminath Irasha from Human Resources Management and Ahmed Najib from Central Operations as HDC's PWD Ambassadors on International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2026 as part of the company's vision to establish an integrated environment.

The term of their ambassadorship will reach its end in October 2027, said HDC.

The company said under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the ambassadors, they will work to find equal opportunities for persons with disabilities so that their opinions, discussions and concerns can be brought to the management.

Additionally, HDC said the ambassadors will oversee department efforts regarding persons with disabilities and will aid the corporation in ensuring that Hulhumale' projects move forward with equal participation.

HDC stated Hulhumale' can only be built as a place of prosperity with cooperation from the community as a whole, and that the ambassadors appointed by the corporation will work to identify the opinions and needs of the public so that they can be made a reality. HDC also said they will move forward with the aim to develop roads and public spaces.

"One of the biggest aims the corporation has is to make Hulhumale' an island where it is convenient for all citizens and where inclusive participation can take place. We also want to make sure that resources, the work environment and Hulhumale' becomes an integrated environment," said HDC's HR Management's Acting Head Mohamed Hisaan.

"Let us all work together to make Hulhumale' a convenient place for everyone."

HDC went on to say that if anyone wants to express any relevant concerns, people can do so by contacting the corporation's hotline, 1516. Their statement expresses gratitude for the cooperation offered to the corporation in solving everyone's concerns and establishing an integrated environment.
