Ibrahim Nazeem has been dismissed from the post of Managing Director and Board of Directors of Road Development Corporation (RDC) which has been marked for liquidation.
Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) stated that instead of Nazeem, management of RDC has been temporarily handed over to DCP (Retired) Ahmed Saudi, who currently serves as Managing Director at MTCC.
The government has previously announced in September that after RDC is liquidated, its work will be transferred under MTCC. RDC was established six years ago to oversee road development work across the atolls.
In the announcement, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu said that the decision was made as having two companies that undertake similar work increases government expenditure.
Nazeem was appointed to RDC in July last year. Prior to this, he served as a State Minister at the Construction Ministry. He has also previously served as Deputy Minister at the Housing Ministry. Nazeem also earlier worked at the Sports Ministry.
