A person was injured following an act of violence in K. Guraidhoo yesterday.

Police stated last night that an altercation between two people led to one of them being injured by a sharp object.

Police said the attacker with the sharp object has been arrested.

Sources say that the sharp object used in the altercation was a knife.

Guraidhoo Council President Ibrahim Shaaleez told Mihaaru News that the council received word of the attack when the island's health center reported the incident to them.

He said that the youth who was stabbed had multiple injuries on their stomach and that they have been brought to Male' for treatment.

"For now, we know that the attack occurred due to an argument between two people," said the council president.

Police have not given additional details regarding the attack as of yet.
