The Maldives Meteorological (MET) Office has said that there will be rainfall all across Maldives for the next five days.

A MET Office official told Mihaaru News that their current forecasts show that Maldives will experience rain for the next five days. The official also said that rain will be heaviest over the weekend.

The official went on to say that even though it may rain during these next few days, both wind speeds and the ocean will be calm. However, gust speeds are expected to be unusually high.

Weather forecasts currently show that Male' will experience the heaviest amount of rainfall this week on Friday.

The rainfall in Maldives that is occurring has resulted in flooding yesterday in some areas.

According to the Maldives' Nakaiy calendar, today is the 14th Nakaiy of the Southwest (Hulhangu) Monsoon, which is the 11th day of Hitha, expected to have isolated showers. Wind speeds should be low and seas will usually be calm.

Of Maldives' two seasons, the Northeast (Iruvai) Monsoon starts in January until the end of March. The Southwest Monsoon starts in May until the end of November. April and December are known to be transitional months.
