Hisan Hassan, who has served as the Chief Executive of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) since its inception, has been dismissed from the position.

Although a reliable source confirmed to "Mihaaru" that Hisan has been dismissed from his post, further details regarding the matter have not yet been received.

The National Disaster Management Authority was formed following the tsunami that hit the Maldives and many Asian countries in 2004, to assist people in emergencies and to oversee the aid received by the Maldives.

Appointed by the government to run the center upon its creation, Hisan held the rank of Lance Corporal in the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) at the time.

Afterwards, when the institution was converted into a civilian agency in 2011 and granted statutory authority under a law passed in 2015, he remained in charge.

The institution's name was changed to its current form as NDMA, and Hisan was appointed to the post of CEO in 2018.
