More than 700 Cubs Scouts took part in national Pre-Cub Meets and Cub Rallies held in Thinadhoo City, Haa Dhaalu atoll Hanimaadhoo and Laamu Atoll Gan as part of a nationwide scouting programme.

The Scout Association of Maldives organized the events for children aged 5 to 12, bringing together young Scouts and volunteers for activities designed to build friendships, encourage community participation and develop essential life skills.

The first event, covering Gaafu Alifu and Gaafu Dhaalu atolls, was held at the Thinadhoo City Football Stadium on 26 September. More than 250 Pre-Cubs and Cub Scouts participated, supported by more than 150 volunteers.

Held in collaboration with the Resilient Skatunne Scout Group, run by the Organization for Community Resilience, the event featured creative arts, traditional games, obstacle courses and stalls introducing participants to the work of various organizations.

Participants also planted 211 trees as part of the Scout Association’s initiative to contribute one million hours of community service and the government’s five million tree-planting project.

The event received support from Thinadhoo City Council, the Thinadhoo City Women’s Development Committee, Aboobakuru School and Thinadhoo School. Thinadhoo City Stadium served as the venue partner, while Dr Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital provided medical support.

Activity partners included the Business Centre Corporation, Maldives National University, Women Empowerment Association of Thinadhoo, Yuenarts, Rahfushu Boduberu, Maldives National Defence Force and Maldives Police Service. Happy Market, Bank of Maldives and Maldives Islamic Bank also supported the event.

The second and third rallies were held simultaneously last weekend in Haa Dhaalu atoll Hanimaadhoo and Laamu atoll Gan.

More than 300 Pre-Cubs and Cub Scouts took part in Hanimaadhoo, supported by over 100 volunteers from Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu and Shaviyani atolls. The event was organized by the Kethiara Scout Group, with I and C Trading Private Limited as the main partner and support from the island council, government agencies and NGOs.

In Gan, more than 200 Pre-Cubs and Cub Scouts participated, supported by over 70 volunteers from Meemu, Faafu, Dhaalu, Thaa and Laamu atolls. The event was hosted by the Ihahdhoo School Scout Group, with support from Gan Council and other organizations operating in Laamu atoll.

Across the rallies, children took part in cultural activities, arts and crafts, obstacle courses and sessions run by government agencies and NGOs. The activities aim to support children’s physical and mental wellbeing while helping them develop practical skills and a sense of solidarity.

The nationwide programme will continue with rallies in Noonu Atoll Kudafari on 24 October, Baa Atoll Dharavandhoo on 21 November, and Addu City on 21 November.

Male' City event will also be held, with its date to be announced later.
