Police have arrested a man accused of having been part of a robbery at his family residence. He has been placed in remand in custody for 15 days.
As per the remand order issued by the Criminal Court yesterday, Zahir Alididi, 44, of Lilies, HA. Hoarafushi, was arrested after police found him in the company of a robbery suspect they had gone to arrest in relation to the theft at Zahir's family home.
Police said in court that Zahir had been closely acquainted with the suspects even prior to the crime.
Zahir claimed in court that he had met the man who had threatened and robbed his family through an online game. He stated that the robbers had obtained a key to his family home through holding him captive at a location, and denied having any connections to them.
As per the court order, Zahir was remanded in custody for 15 days as there is sufficient evidence to support the charges.
