Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Eagle Hills, stated today that all matters related to the upcoming project planned in Rasmalé under the name Maldives Waterfront and Marina will be carried out transparently and in accordance with international best practices.
In an exclusive interview given to "Mihaaru" during his visit to the Maldives, Alabbar stated that his principle is to conduct projects transparently, which is why he arrived in Maldives last night.
He stated that there is nothing to hide regarding the project Eagle Hills intends to implement in the Maldives.
"I believe that the world (now) is very open. There is no other way than ethical principles," Alabbar said while speaking to "Mihaaru" at the Dusit Thani resort.
He noted that things are currently conducted transparently all over the world, and since Eagle Hills' projects operate in 20 countries, he monitors everything very closely. Therefore, Alabbar stated that nothing can be hidden.
"Everyone will look at everything all the time. Nothing can be hidden. And I believe that over the past 29 years, I may have done successful work and unsuccessful work. But all of that work has been done transparently," Alabbar said.
Alabbar described that all projects spearheaded by him in various countries to date have brought tremendous benefits to the communities where the projects are implemented. He also stated that these opportunities have created jobs in those places and provided people with the chance to feel proud of the cities they live in.
Along with that, he reiterated that nothing can be hidden.
"That is why I came to the Maldives. Whoever comes to talk to me (to get information), I will talk to them. There is nothing to hide," Alabbar said.
He also mentioned that he is not trying to implement a project in Rasmalé just for the sake of implementing a project, as he has already implemented numerous projects. Alabbar stated that projects worth USD 450 billion have been implemented under his direct supervision so far.
He also stated that his main philosophy in implementing projects is to bring the maximum possible benefit to the community where the project is implemented.
"What I am doing is spending from the blessings given by God. What I wish is to do things right, to help the community, to help people, to pay tax, to earn some income," Alabbar said.
Alabbar stated that when implementing such a project in the Maldives or any other country, all necessary supplies will be purchased from the people of that country. He stated that employment and training opportunities will also be given to the people of that country.

During his visit to the Maldives, he also met with some business owners today.
During that meeting, he stated that all work for the massive project preparing to be implemented in Rasmalé will be handed over to Maldivian companies, and that Maldivian business owners will also have the opportunity to invest in the project.
He stated that he has no interest in implementing a project that does not benefit the Maldivian community, and if a project implemented in the Maldives does not benefit Maldivians, it is an unsuccessful project.
