STELCO stated the generator sets (gensets) at S. Hulhudhoo and S. Meedhoo have been repaired and are operational once again.

STELCO took charge of Addu's electricity services, which has had a history of power outage issues, on 30th September.

STELCO said today that when they took responsibility for Addu's electricity services, they repaired the 800 kilowatt generator set that was nonfunctional and it is currently in use.

According to the company, the generator set becoming operational once more will increase the electricity production capacity at Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo, with the quality of service toward residents of the islands being improved as time goes on.

"Our hope is that the company's capable and experienced staff will use their knowledge and skills to continue repairing broken down generators and make them operational, providing a complete service without interruption," said STELCO.

Before STELCO took on the responsibility of electricity services in the city with the largest population aside from Male', those services were being provided to the city by Fenaka.

The decision to dissolve Fenaka Corporation, which continues to provide water and sewerage services to Maldivian islands, and transfer all electricity services across all islands in Maldives to STELCO was made via an announcement made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on 7th October.

While referring to experts, the President said that Fenaka cannot be sustainably operated, which led to the government's decision to dissolve the company.
