North Harbour finger jetty planned to ease passenger flow

MTCC said the project will see three jetties with a width of 25 meters each and three jetties with a width of 6 meters and a length of 15 meters each. The project has a cost of MVR 18.98 million.

Construction of a finger jetty near the area where speedboats are moored at the north end of the harbor in Male' has begun.

MTCC said the project will see three jetties with a width of 25 meters each and three jetties with a width of 6 meters and a length of 15 meters each. The project has a cost of MVR 18.98 million.

Once the work is completed, MTCC said harbour congestion will be reduced, while passengers will no longer have to move from one speedboat to another to board boats beyond the jetty.

According to MTCC, the completion of the jetties and its subsequent use will be a point of major convenience for the public and travelers.

MTCC said the completed jetty will provide more space for harbour users and allow multiple vessels to dock simultaneously. This will reduce travel times and make boarding and disembarking safer, the company said.
