A Pakistani couple has been arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs into the Maldives.
A Pakistani media outlet had cited its authorities saying that the couple were en route to Maldives via Dubai, and that the drugs were found in their luggage.
They were detained from Pakistani airport and after searching their apartment in Karachi, more drugs were found.
A total of 20kg of heroin was uncovered in the investigations.
It is estimated street-value of the drugs go up to USD 1.8 million (MVR 27 million).
This largest quantity of outgoing drugs caught by the authorities in the past 10 years, according to Pakistani media.
