The amount of property zakat collected so far this year has exceeded the total collected last year, Maldives Zakat House said.

According to the Zakat House, MVR109,262,025.69 in property zakat was collected from January through September this year.

This is MVR2,805,954.69 more than the MVR106,456,071 collected throughout last year, representing an increase of 2.64 percent.

Zakat House said it had collected a total of MVR108,739,116.62 and USD34,021.41 in zakat by the end of September.

Zakat House said the amount collected so far this year is expected to increase further during the remaining three months of the year.
