Meeting between presidents strengthened foundation of Maldives-China relations: Ambassador

Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's state visit to China in 2024 to meet with the President of China Xi Jinping has further strengthened the diplomatic foundation between both nations.

In a post on X marking the 77th National Day of the People's Republic of China, Xianhua said citizens of both countries share in China's celebration.

He also said that due to the historic meeting between senior officials from both countries in 2024, the rate of work in various sectors between Maldives and China has increased, with a solid foundation having been laid.

The Chinese Ambassador said he appreciates their long-standing relationship with Maldives.

Foreign relations between Maldives and China were established 54 years ago.

China has provided significant aid to Maldives in urban and economic development.
