President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the future of national service, which was introduced one year ago by the government for the purpose of shaping the youth in a positive manner, is looking very bright and that additional areas will be introduced.
In a social media post celebrating one year of national service, the President said additional areas will be introduced into the program.
"Expanding on the role of national career service in the efforts to provide employment opportunities to the youths that complete national service training is also a priority of the government," said President Muizzu.

The President highlighted that the government's goal of training 1,000 youth yearly within national service has also been achieved, and that 1,028 youth have been trained this year alone.
President Muizzu went on to say that while 1,028 Maldivian youth have been trained via the national service's initial training, 136 youth have been trained in the National Service Skill Training Program.

"Praise be to God, I would like to congratulate the youth who have completed the national service training and their families as well on this occasion. I would like to thank all those involved in the ongoing success of national service as well," the President said.
The national service program was introduced to Maldives one year ago on President Muizzu's initiative. The government said the main aim of it is to train a generation of young people who have love for their country, are religiously aware, responsible, and those who are physically, spiritually and mentally healthy.
