Male' City Council has fined 12 vessels for illegally mooring in the Vilimale' lagoon.

The council said the vessels were moored in the lagoon in violation of regulations, making it difficult for boats with permits to use the area.

The action was taken in response to complaints from other authorized users of the lagoon, the council said.

Each vessel was fined MVR500.

The council urged vessel owners and operators to comply with the rules governing use of the lagoon and said it would continue taking action against vessels moored there illegally.

The Vilimale' lagoon is under the jurisdiction of Male' City Council, which is working to improve management of the area and reduce the number of unauthorized vessels using it.

The council has previously fined vessels for illegally mooring in the lagoons of Male' and Vilimale'.
