Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowments Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has left for Saudi Arabia today to attend a conference in Madinah. 

The conference, titled "International Conference on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Efforts to Counter Intellectual Deviations" is organized by The Islamic University of Madinah. 

The conference will be attended by Islamic scholars and experts from over 100 countries who will share best practices and peer-reviewed scientific papers. 

The Islamic Ministry said that Minister Shaheem will be addressing the conference. 

Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to the Maldives Yahya Hassan Alqahtani also reiterated last week that Saudi Arabia shares interest in exploring new areas of cooperation with the Maldives.
