The individual recently arrested for defecating inside a mosque has been remanded in custody until the conclusion of his trial.

A police media official stated today that Naushad Moosa, who was arrested for violating the sanctity of the mosque, was presented to the Criminal Court for a second time as his remand period was expiring.

Consequently, the court ordered last Friday that he be kept in detention until the end of the trial.

Naushad was arrested on the 10th of this month, and a 15-day remand period was initially imposed.

Naushad, 32, was previously arrested for throwing away holy Qurans (Hatheem) and damaging a mosque.

At that time, he was arrested after scattering copies of the Quran inside the Furqan Mosque, causing damage to the mosque, and destroying several electrical boards.

Following that, he was also arrested in connection with a case where he exposed his sexual organs to a group of women inside a mosque.

A Prosecutor General's (PG) Office media official stated that Naushad was sentenced to prison after the charge against him for failing to fast during the previous Ramadan without a valid excuse was proven. In addition, he has also faced prosecution in theft cases.
