Police are investigating a report that lockers containing official documents at the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development were opened outside the ministry’s policy.

Police said they went to the scene last night after receiving a complaint. 

“Documents were checked by ministry staff in the presence of police, and it was confirmed that no documents or other items were missing,” police said in a statement.

The ministry is temporarily operating from Dharubaaruge after a fire broke out at its former building.

A ministry official said the locker in question was used to store documents belonging to employees and was not a locked storage locker.
