Police are investigating an alleged assault and attempted robbery involving an expatriate woman in Raa Atoll Maduvvari.

A video circulating on social media appears to show an expatriate man throwing the woman onto the street, covering her mouth and threatening her.

The man was stopped by a Maldivian who was in the area, according to the video.

The video also shows money belonging to the woman, who works at a restaurant, lying on the street.

Police said last night that they were investigating the incident. No arrests have been made so far.
