Izuan Ibrahim, Ayan Ahmed Inaan and Aishath Zeke Riyaz placed first last night in the 28th National Quran Competition.
Izuan placed 1st in the Hafiz category across the competition, with Zeke placing 1st in the Recitation from Memory category. Inaan placed 1st in the Recitation Off Text category.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu presented the awards to those who claimed first place across the competition.
This year's gold placement winners received many valuable prizes, including the commemorative plaque from the President, an MVR 100,000 cash prize, and a special PhD scholarship in any country and in any field.
Additionally, there was a cash prize of MVR 75,000 from the Islamic Ministry, including the National Center for the Holy Quran, Zakat House and Islamic Development Fund. There was also a commemorative certificate, trophy and Umrah pilgrimage courtesy of the Hajj Corporation.
This year's competition was held after major changes were brought to the framework.
One of the changes is holding auditions across 20 regions in Maldives, along with the Male' region. 2,742 participants recited during the audition.
The Islamic Ministry highlighted that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's government prioritizes raising the standards of the National Quran Competition and making it a remarkable competition.
