The Maldives Customs Service has seized over 3.3 kilograms of drugs that were being attempted to be smuggled into the Maldives via Gan International Airport.

Customs stated today that these items were seized on the 22nd of September from two passengers who arrived in the Maldives from India.

They are two men of Indian nationality.

Customs stated that upon suspecting that drugs had been concealed within their luggage, customs officials searched their luggage and discovered substances suspected to be drugs.

According to Customs, initial preliminary tests showed that the substances tested positive for cannabis.

The agency also reported that the total weight of these substances is 3.34 kilograms.

In connection with this case, the seized drugs and the two Indian nationals who attempted to smuggle them have now been handed over to the police for further investigation.
