President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu stated today that the assistance provided by China to the Maldives' infrastructure and social development is evident from the progress brought to the lives of Maldivian citizens.
At a ceremony held in Malé to celebrate China's National Day, the President spoke, highlighting the long-standing close relations between the two countries and China's contribution to the Maldives' development.
He stated that the relationship between the Maldives and China is not merely one visible in diplomatic statements, but a reality that is clearly visible, tangible, and experienced in the everyday lives of Maldivian citizens.
In this regard, the President highlighted the assistance being provided by China across various areas of economic and social development, including the Sinamalé Bridge and housing projects.
"A bridge is not merely a structure made of cement and steel. A bridge symbolizes the connection that binds people, communities, and nations together. We hope that the relationship between the Maldives and China will remain a bridge that leads us to opportunities, prosperity, and a bright future," the President stated.
Furthermore, highlighting the economic and environmental challenges currently facing the world, the President noted that no single country can face today's challenges alone, and that cooperation must take precedence over division.
Reiterating the Maldives' steadfast support for the "One China Principle," the President also stated that the Maldives looks forward to further strengthening the relations between the two countries.
