The council of HA. Baarah has prohibited children under the age of 18 from being outdoors alone after 9pm without a parent or guardian starting today.

In an announcement issued today, the Baarah Council stated that children and students have increasingly been observed spending late into the night outdoors on beaches, public squares, hotels, cafes, and secluded areas.

The statement noted that these children wander without purpose and contrary to socially acceptable moral standards, which causes negative social impacts and gives rise to behavioral issues.

Therefore, the council has requested that local associations, educational, and vocational training centers take these hours into consideration when organizing and planning activities involving children.

"Starting today, Thursday, September 24, 2026, it is prohibited for children under the age of 18 and school children to roam or be active outdoors after 9:00 PM without an important purpose, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian," the statement read.

The council stated that future generations play a very important role in nation-building and maintaining family well-being. Consequently, protecting children to properly nurture these generations is an important responsibility of every individual, the council added.

When the Baarah Council made this decision, R. Vaadhoo had also banned children from being outdoors alone after 9 PM as part of special measures implemented to improve the conduct of Vaadhoo School students.
