Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has stated that the person who jumped from the Sinamale' Bridge and into the ocean has been rescued.

MNDF said the Coast Guard's Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) received information of the incident at 12:45 am last night.

Upon receiving the information, divers from the Male' area command, Coast Guard Second Squadron went to the scene of the incident and conducted a search-and-rescue effort, said MNDF.

According to the MNDF, the person who jumped was found holding on to a bridge pillar. After they were brought aboard the MNDF Coast Guard Harbor Craft, they were handed over to the police, MNDF said.
