Chief Operating Officer (COO) at the Pension Office, Mariyam Shiuna, has been suspended. 

It has been learned that Shiuna was placed on suspension a few days ago in relation to an administrative matter. No further details have been learned as of yet. 

Asked about the suspension, a Pension Office Media Official responded that it is not their policy to share details of administrative matters involving individual members of staff with the media. 

However, measures have been taken to ensure that the office's services continue uninterrupted, they said. 

"The Pension Office prioritizes ensuring services are provided to members, and member's pension fund is protected," they stated. 

Shiuna, who holds a Masters degree in International Development, took up the position heading the Pension Office's Corporate Affairs Division in 2023. 

Prior to this, she served as President of the Anti Corruption Commission, and earlier, as Executive Director of Transparency Maldives.
