STELCO Managing Director Dr. Ali Azwar has stated that the government's decision to expand STELCO's services to all of Maldives and bring power stations in all Maldivian islands under STELCO's purview will satisfy and offer peace of mind to citizens.

Fenaka Corporation is currently in charge of water and sewerage services in several Maldives islands.

However, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the corporation will be dissolved, with electricity services in all islands being brought under STELCO.

During the launch ceremony for the training program aimed at station managers at Baa Atoll, Lhaviyani Atoll, Meemu Atoll and Kaafu Huraa, all places where STELCO began services for the first time, and staff who are temporarily in charge of power stations, Azwar said the company is one of the biggest participants in national development.

Azwar described the government's decision to expand STELCO's utility services to all of Maldives and offer their services, as they stated, at their exceptional quality, will bring about many benefits at a national level.

According to Azwar, STELCO teams have been formed to conduct survey efforts as part of their work to expand their services to the entirety of Maldives.

While highlighting that STELCO offering those services would satisfy citizens, Azwar said it will heighten the quality of service for the electricity being provided to the islands and decrease expenditure.

"As I see it, the expansion of STELCO's services to all of Maldives will greatly satisfy and offer peace of mind to citizens. It is my opinion that it is a notable accomplishment where service quality in islands will be improved, our expenditure will decrease in various ways and operational efficiency will be raised to a national level," said the Managing Director.

Azwar went on to say that listening to how the public feels and expanding the service to all of Maldives was a very good decision by President Muizzu.

After stating that STELCO has had a 75-year history, Azwar said that it is a history that the people acknowledge. He also said it has been that way for a long time because of the hard work put in by the staff and their efforts in offering the most well-rounded service.

And so, he requested the station managers at the islands where STELCO has begun serving for the first time to work together with the residents for their benefit.

The purpose of the training program that will end today is to ensure the newly appointed managers and station officials have the capability to operate the power stations with complete trust and responsibility within STELCO's guidelines and standards.

The program provided the roles, responsibilities and information about the responsibilities of managers, and described how they would work together with the company's various departments and island power stations.

The managers were provided information regarding administrative, technical and financial safety, important instructions about operational matters, fostering connections between atoll power stations, regional and other departments, and information required to come to strong conclusions after finding solutions to the difficulties they would face on the job.
