A 26-year-old woman is in serious condition after being injured in a collision between two motorcycles in Male' last night.

Police received a report of the accident at around 1:12am on Sosun Magu.

Three people were injured in the collision: a 21-year-old man, a 22-year-old man and the 26-year-old woman. All three are Maldivian.

The woman is being treated at ADK Hospital. A hospital official told Mihaaru News that she is in serious condition but did not provide further details.

The woman sustained serious facial injuries and underwent surgery on her head following the accident.

Video footage of the accident has circulated on social media showing the woman falling and bleeding heavily from her head. the two men involved also are seen fallen on the ground with various injuries.

Police said the 21-year-old man involved in the collision did not have a valid driving licence.

The case is under further investigation.
