The case requesting charges to be filed against five individuals arrested from K. Maafushi in connection with an incident involving obstruction of police duties and assault has been forwarded to the Prosecutor General's (PG) Office.

Six individuals were arrested on the 11th of last month on allegations of obstructing police duties and attacking and assaulting police officers while they were being searched during an operation conducted on the island on suspicion of possessing and using drugs in Maafushi.

Police stated that the investigation of the case was concluded and forwarded to the PG requesting charges on the 10th of this month.

The Maafushi individuals arrested in that case: l Mohamed Shaabin Shujau, Heavan, Abdulla Nihad Starline, Ibrahim Suneez, Greenpark, Ahmed Ahunaf Asfaag, Vaareyvilla, Hassan Nabeel, Faizaan Manzil, Mohamed Shaihan, Greenpark

Police stated that among the six individuals, Mohamed Shaabin Shujau was released with conditions after being presented to the Maafushi Magistrate Court to make a decision regarding his remand, and therefore that case has been appealed at the High Court.

Police also stated that among the remaining five individuals, Nihad was arrested on the 14th of last month, and his remand period will expire on the 4th of next month.

Suneez was arrested on the 15th of last month, and his remand period will expire next Wednesday, police said. Additionally, Ahunaf, who was arrested on the 19th of last month, has his remand period expiring on the 11th of next month.

Furthermore, Shaihan, who was arrested on the 28th of last month, has his remand period expiring on the 27th of this month, and Nabeel, who was arrested on the 29th of last month, was released when taken to court to extend his remand period, police added.
