MTCC has announced that the section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu near West Park in Maafannu will be closed off to the public from tonight onwards as the company prepares to start Phase 3 of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project. 

An announcement from MTCC states that one side of Boduthakurufaanu Magu in the West Park area will be closed from midnight tonight. 

The public can continue to use the other lane of the road, MTCC stated, apologizing for any inconvenience this may cause. 

The Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project commenced in August last year. Under the first phase of the project, the section of the road from the Fish Market to the Republic Square was extended to four lanes and asphalt was newly laid. In phase 2, the section of the road from the Fish Market to the North Harbour was similarly developed. 

In 'The Pulse' podcast ruby the President's Office, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu earlier announced that work will commence soon to repair and redevelop the part of Boduthakurufaanu Magu which has seen the most severe dilapidation, from the MPL area to the Tsunami Binaa Maizan. 

MTCC is expected to initiative phase 3 of this project after completing the ongoing Ameenee Magu redevelopment efforts. Currently, asphalt is being laid on the area of Ameenee Magu which is under repair. MTCC has estimated that this work will see completion within the week. 

The government is also working on relocating the Male' Commercial Harbour to Thilafushi. This is expected to be achieved by November 11, 2027, President Muizzu earlier announced. This move is aimed at resolving the heavy congestion and subsequent delays currently faced in the commercial harbour.
