A 20 year old Maldivian man is in serious condition after the motorcycle he was riding went out of control and fell into the sea during a racing competition in Laamu Gan.

Police said they received a report at around 10am yesterday that a motorcycle had gone out of control and fallen into the sea with its rider during the “Racing Championship – Laamu Edition”.

The rider was injured in the incident and is being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Laamu Gan Regional Hospital, police said.

Details of his injuries had not been available as of yet.

Police said they are investigating the incident.
