Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef left for New York last night to take part in the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA).

The Vice President will return on Saturday, with the President's Office stating that Vice President Latheef will deliver official statements on behalf of Maldives at high-level meetings.

The President's Office also stated that the Vice President will participate in bilateral and multilateral discussions.

"He will also attend the opening of the General Debate and other receptions on the sidelines," reads the President's Office website.
