Accusing the PNF's members of being fraudulently enrolled into the PNC, PNF submitted the case of Elections Commission (EC) President Mohamed Shakeel to the police today.

Prior to submitting the case to the police, in an interview given to 'Channel 13', PNF Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed stated that, in the manner desired by the ruling PNC, members are being removed from the PNF registry and enrolled into various parties. 

Former Vice President Jameel stated that there is concrete evidence of these acts taking place and that, according to the Penal Code, this constitutes various types of crimes.

The allegations leveled against Shakeel include fraud, deception, and using official influence to secure undue benefits for others.

"I hope that this case will begin to be investigated, it must be investigated," Jameel stated.

He stated that there is no place operating this flagrantly without regard for the laws of the Maldives. Consequently, he stated that the EC has become a branch operated within the PNC that no one trusts.

According to the EC's registry, by the end of June last year, former President Abdulla Yameen's PNF had 3,137 members. The accusation that members are being removed from the party's registry and enrolled into the PNC comes as the ruling party recently celebrated reaching 70,000 members.
