A person has been arrested for allegedly stealing two woks from a house in Gaafu Dhaalu Faresmaathodaa and selling them to a boat.

Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Police Station said a report was received at around 8:30am on August 30 that two woks had been stolen from Chambeyli in Faresmaathodaa and sold to "Roashanee" boat.

Police said the stolen items were recovered and a suspect was arrested in connection with the case. The suspect’s identity was not disclosed.

The arrest comes amid reports of increased thefts of electricity transformer components and copper wires from homes in recent weeks.
