A delegation from Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) paid a courtesy call on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu today.
During the meeting held this morning at Muliaage, the presidential residence, the head of the delegation was Huseyin Yayman, the Deputy Chairman of the AK Party.
The President's Office stated that the discussions mainly focused on further strengthening the relations between the Maldives and Turkey, enhancing cooperation in the fields of tourism and trade, and strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.
The President's Office stated that the meeting concluded with assurances to further strengthen the long-standing close relations between the two countries in the future.
As President Muizzu met with the AK Party, led by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a delegation from the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC) also paid a visit to the President today.
The delegations of the AK Party and the CPC visited the Maldives for the opening ceremony of the ongoing PNC congress. While both party delegations participated in the session held last night to commence the congress, the President warmly welcomed them and expressed his gratitude.
The AK Party is the party that has been governing Turkey since 2002.
