PNC Parliamentary Group Leader Ibrahim Falah has said that with Maldives 2.0, ruling People's National Congress' (PNC) Congress has been modernized and the results of the congress' internal election are made available very quickly.
During PNC's election for the Women's Wing, Falah said Maldives 2.0, a high priority project by the government, has made the party much more modern.
PNC Congress 2026 is being held at the Social Center until Friday, with votes being cast by the voter's own mobile phone via an application. They are given seven minutes to cast their votes.
Falah went on to say they receive the results of hundreds of votes in a short amount of time and they can see people casting their votes. He described it as how modern they have become within democracy's beautiful principles.
"What we are seeing is how modern our party has become. Under 2.0, we receive the results of hundreds of votes in a very short amount of time, with the voting process being seen and how they are voting. This shows how 2.0 has modernized us within democracy's beautiful principles and how everything is connected under 2.0," said Falah.

The PNC Congress 2026 will take place until Friday, 18th September. More than 1,300 representatives from Male' and other islands are taking part.
Today will see congress hold elections for various positions within the party.
Six candidates have been elected as the Vice President of PNC. They are:
- Sports Minister Abdulla Rafiu
- Chief Government Spokesperson at the President's Office Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu)
- Nilandhoo Constituency MP Fathimath Saudha
- Baarah Constituency MP Ibrahim Shujau
- Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam
- Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed
Central Maafannu Constituency MP Asma Rasheed and CEO of the Local Government Authority (LGA) Mohamed Nimal have been eliminated from the election.
According to PNC's principle guidelines, the sitting Vice President and Parliamentary Group Leader of the party are both Vice Presidents of the party. With the addition of the six candidates who were elected, there are a total of 8 Vice Presidents in PNC.
