Videos depicting a young boy being bullied on an island in the north have gone viral on social media, prompting the police to investigate the case.
In one video that surfaced on social media yesterday, three boys are seen together slapping a young boy in the face, pushing him, and using foul language. They are also seen telling the boy to touch all of their feet and apologize.
Other videos also show the boy being slapped in the face, during which the child is seen crying.
When questioned regarding these videos, police stated that a case alleging physical and psychological abuse of a minor on an island within the Upper North Police region was submitted to the police yesterday.
While the police are investigating the case in collaboration with relevant authorities, they have requested that neither the videos related to the incident nor any information that could identify the child be made public.
Following the circulation of the videos, public criticism has been directed at the children doing the bullying. Some have also complained that institutions such as the Gender Ministry fail to investigate such matters.
